cpcuSomerville, MA -CPCU Credit Union held a free Business Financing workshop for business members of the Somerville Local First (SLF) on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at their Somerville Branch. The workshop, in collaboration with SLF and the Small Business Association, provided local business owners and entrepreneurs with information about starting a business and the financing options available to them. The Somerville Local First and CPCU have been working together for several years, but only recently realized the need to demystify the lending process for local businesses. Both SLF and CPCU saw an opportunity to work together and share resources to educate small business owners on the best practices in business financing. "The Small Business Finance session helped alleviate a lot of the mystery and anxiety from working with lenders. It also showed that, even in difficult economic times, there are organizations dedicated to building a stronger community by helping small local business owners get the resources they need," commented Adam Brilla of Stompbox Sonic, a workshop attendee. "We are pleased to partner with our business neighbors and the Somerville Local First to provide information and resources thatfoster the economic vitality of our communities. We are looking forward to expanding these partnerships in hopes of strengthening our commitment to support small businesses in Somerville, Cambridge and surrounding communities," commented Albert Pinho, Senior Lending Officer at CPCU Credit Union. CPCU plans to offer additional workshops in collaboration with SLF on a quarterly basis.
