CaptureIt was at a meeting on March 12 that a financial service officer at Portage Credit Union brought up the fact that North Memorial School didnt have enough supplies to keep its breakfast program going for the rest of the school year. "They kind of thought it would be a great idea to help support the community, which is what Portage Credit Union is all about," said Stacy Turner, marketing co-ordinator at Portage Credit Union. "We decided to make a difference in these kids lives and donate some food." They set a deadline of 48 hours and when 1 p.m. on March 14 rolled around, they had collected more than 68 boxes of cereal and 20 boxes of juice. "The staff really stepped up, it was awesome," Turner said. "As people in the community its great, and as Portage Credit Union were all about making a difference in the community so I think thats a great thing, it goes back to being who we are."
