This end-of-the-winter cold spell comes at a time of the year when many households have already exhausted their fuel assistance. Recognizing that fuel costs are on the rise, Brotherhood Credit Union (www.brotherhoodcreditunion.org) has donated $2,800 to the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless to assist in keeping homes warm until the spring. The Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless will work with their advocates to ensure that oil, assistance, and warmth will be provided to the families that need it most.

Adam Sherman, Chief Financial Officer of Brotherhood Credit Union (BCU) stated, "at Brotherhood Credit Union, we know how many of our neighbors are struggling at this time of year; our donation will go directly to helping them keep their homes warm."

Since 1981, The Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless has been applying a collaborative approach to unifying people and mobilizing resources in order to provide affordable housing and to meet the basic needs of low income families and individuals. The measurable outcomes and community impact created by these efforts have made the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless a leader in developing innovative advocacy and programming to end homelessness in the Commonwealth.

As BCU celebrates its 80th year of operation in the city of Lynn, both the board and management want to celebrate and give back to the community that it has served for more than three quarters of a century. This is Brotherhood Credit Union's sixth year collaborating with the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, and through this continued partnership, BCU has donated a total of $17,000 to help families stay warm during harsh winters. In addition to the heating program, BCU encourages its members to partake in supporting the A Bed for Every Child program, another initiative set forth by the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, which aims to provide low income children a bed of their own.

About Brotherhood Credit Union BCU is a full-service credit union that was established in 1934 in Lynn, Massachusetts. BCU also serves the town of Marblehead and continues its strong ties in the city of Lynn. Today, BCU has over $100,000,000 in assets and offers membership to anyone residing or working the Essex, Middlesex, Suffolk or Norfolk counties.
