CaptureBattle Creek, Mich. Junior Achievement of Southwest Michigan will put a $2,000 OMNI Gives Back Grant to good use with a personal finance program for youth. "Junior Achievement of Southwest Michigan is very grateful for the support OMNI continues to give us. With volunteers and financial assistance, Omni has inspired many students to achieve their economic success and allowed them to compete in a global marketplace." States Tom VanderMolen, President of Junior Achievement of Southwest Michigan. The classroom-based program will be taught in six Battle Creek area high schools during the current school year. Approximately 460 students will benefit from learning the financial basics, including earning an income, budgeting, using credit wisely and setting specific personal goals to help ensure their financial stability in the future. Giving our young community members a foundation for responsible financial management is something that is obviously very close to our hearts, said OMNI CEO Ted Parsons. As they say, knowledge is power and the earlier financial education can be introduced to our youth, the better chance they have of financial success. Another aspect Junior Achievement includes is the giving back element, which we wholly support as well. To learn more about this program or for those interested in donating to Junior Achievement of Southwest Michigan, visit www.battlecreek.ja.org or call 269-968-9188, ext. 22. Through the OMNI Gives Back Grant Program, the credit union seeks and accepts grant applications from local non-profits whose programs support the credit union philosophy of People Helping People. Complete details and access to the grant application are available at givesback.omnicommunitycu.org.
