Credit Union Supports Financial Literacy

surreyB.C. - PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs� and Envision Financial are excited to present two PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs� trade shows this Thursday, March 13 at Kirkbride and Hillcrest Elementary Schools in Surrey. At the shows students will be selling products made during a six-week comprehensive educational program highlighting financial literacy, business planning and entrepreneurship. As a part of the program, Envision Financial staff volunteered time to teach students at Hillcrest Elementary the fundamentals of good business planning as well as the value of community investment. Members of the media are invited to attend the events and see what our latest set of young entrepreneurs has created. The trade shows Thursday, March 13 Kirkbride Elementary School 12150-92 Avenue in Surrey 9:50 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.   Thursday, March 13 Hillcrest Elementary School 18599-65 Avenue in Surrey 9:00 a.m. to 10:25 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Note: Attendees will be required to sign-in at the office per each school's visitor guidelines. The trade shows will take place in the school gymnasium. About PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs� PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs� is a six-week comprehensive educational program utilizing project-based learning techniques to support an early understanding of money management, financial literacy and entrepreneurship. Developed and designed for students in grades three through eight, students generate ideas, explore concepts, prepare business plans, create products and design marketing materials. At the end of the program, students showcase their achievements at a PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs� trade show, selling their products to students, family and community leaders. Products are available for purchase, ranging in price of $0.50-$5.00.
