Picture 1LAKE CHARLES, LA To celebrate the relocation of its Lake Charles branch, Pelican State Credit Union gave its members an opportunity to grab some fast cash in a money booth! The credit union gave away $2,075 to 108 members from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 27. The money booth was part of the branchs Grand Opening Celebration. Local business leaders, residents, dignitaries and representatives from the Chamber of Commerce showed their support for the credit union by attending a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony led by Pelican CEO Jeffrey K. Conrad and Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach. "In 2010, Pelican merged with Lake Charles TELCO Federal Credit Union. Since the merger, the credit union has developed strong partnerships and grown tremendously alongside of the Lake Charles community," said Conrad. Pelicans new Lake Charles branch is located at 2231 Oak Park Boulevard. The branch boasts more space, more parking and more representatives than the credit unions former location on Kirkman Street. Its proactive staff is led by Branch Manager Jackie Decareaux, who was chosen out of 175 employees statewide as Pelicans 2013 Employee of the Year due to her notable performance. "At our former location, members would call Jackie to ask if there was a parking spot available before visiting the branch. Now, we are proud to offer ample parking to our members in addition to the added convenience of a drive-thru teller line and 24-hour ATM," Conrad added. Another new benefit for Pelicans Lake Charles members is the addition of a full-time mortgage service representative stationed at the branch. Kim Tassin is a seasoned mortgage loan originator with experience in the Lake Charles area. Soon, she will join Pelican in fulfilling the growing housing needs of the community. Several businesses in Lake Charles and its surrounding parishes have partnered with Pelican to provide credit union membership eligibility as a free benefit to their employees. These businesses include AT&T, Tony Chacheres, Community Coffee, Volunteers of America, Villa Maria Retirement Center, the Cameron Sheriffs Office, South Cameron Parish Hospital and many others.
