Credit Union Donates 36 Dr. Seuss Books to Local Elementary
March 3, 2014
Credit Union of America donated 36 Dr. Seuss books, valued at $395, to Roosevelt Elementary in Hoisington. The presentation was made Friday at the school. The donation came about as CUA planned their annual all staff training day, which was held on Presidents Day. The theme of the training was based on messages from Dr. Seuss books. Employees dressed up in their favorite "Seuss Attire" featuring characters from the books for extra chances to win door prizes. Tables seating 196 employees featured centerpieces that included a Dr. Seuss book. CUAs training department organized the event and suggested donating the books to a school in a CUA community. Employees at the training day were asked to nominate the school of their choice and a winner was drawn. Roosevelt Elementary in Hoisington was nominated by Heather Lamb, a member service representative at CUAs Great Bend office. Lamb attended Roosevelt and her son attends there now. CUA also included three community involvement projects in the day, as employees made and stuffed book bags for an early childhood education program, made sack lunches for a homeless shelter, and made blankets for a teen-on-the-streets outreach program.
