Credit Union Donates $3,000 to Sponsor Speedway

scottEdwardsville, Illinois Scott Credit Union recently presented a check for $3,000 to a representative from Belle-Clair Speedway to continue as the official financial institution of the speedway in Belleville this summer. Scott Credit Union Community Relations Representative Jennifer Riebold presented the $3,000 check to Don Hoener of Belle-Clair Promotions. Scott Credit Union will be the primary sponsor of "SCU Night at the Races" event on Friday, June 13. Representatives from Scott Credit Union will be on hand during the event. Additionally, Scott Credit Union has a billboard at the track and will receive announcements during the racing programs "This is another opportunity for us to support a local venue and help them to provide entertainment to local residents," Riebold said. "Having two locations in Belleville, we feel that it is important that we do what we can to help in the community. We also are happy to have another venue to let people know that the credit union is a better value." Belle-Clair Speedway hosts dirt track racing on Friday nights for several classes of cars throughout the summer. The track also host several special racing events throughout the year. The local credit union contributed over $325,000 and its employees volunteered over 2,400 hours to a variety of local civic efforts throughout the region in 2013. "We realize that without our members and the communities in which we serve, we would not exist as a financial alternative," Riebold noted. "Supporting our communities is very important to us." The credit union has increased its community involvement in the past few years while also increasing its efforts to educate consumers of the value of doing their financial business with a not-for-profit credit union. "We want people in the area to know more about the value of doing business with a credit union," she added. "That is why we have focused our time on educating area residents about Scott Credit Union. One of the big ways weve done that is through our community involvement."
