Credit Union Supports Local Humane Society
February 20, 2014
JACKSON, Mich. American 1 Credit Union is proud to give back and serve its surrounding communities. On Saturday, February 8 from 10am to 2pm, 30 local pet vendors were in the American 1 Event Center at the Jackson County Fairgrounds for the American 1 Paws & Claws Pet Expo.
This free event benefited the Cascades Humane Society (CHS). All vendor booth fees, concession proceeds, craft area donations, and pet photo contest proceeds were donated to CHS. CHS also accepted several items for the shelter such as pet food, toys, litter, etc.
The event featured a Pet Fashion show at 12pm, which introduced animals from CHS that were available for adoption. This years Top Dog Model award went to the lovable Sally, who sauntered down the dog walk and was most certainly a crowd favorite.
For a $1 donation guests could enter their favorite pet photo into our "Cutest Pet" Photo Contest. This year a chocolate lab named Dixie took the title of "Cutest Pet", winning a $25 gift card to Pet Smart. Guests could also purchase a "Pet Silhouette" for $1, which allowed them to choose between a Fabulous Feline, and a Dashing Dog. "This was a great new addition to the event this year," said Jessica Lutz, American 1 Credit Unions Event and Marketing Specialist, "CHS intends to continue this at their location throughout the year!"
Overall over $1,680 was raised for the Cascades Humane Society. American 1 Credit Union rounded that dollar amount to an even $2,000. The credit union makes no proceeds, and covers the costs of all of the expenses beyond what is raised.
There were also several animals available for adoption from vendors including The Cascades Humane Society and Last Day Dog Rescue.
