nacucSan Antonio, TX The National Association of Credit Union Chairmen has announced they are accepting applications for the Norma Benson Memorial Scholarship. The Scholarship, currently in its first year, provides financial assistance for Board Chairmen from small credit unions across the country to attend NACUC events.

Scholarship applications are currently being accepting for the NACUC 2014 Leadership Development Seminar which will be held from June 29 July 1 in Baltimore, Maryland. The Leadership Development Seminar is an intensive two-day training event that gives chairmen and future chairmen the necessary tools to fulfil their leadership roles. Topics range from strategic planning, effective team building, financial analysis, managing conflict and running effective board meetings. "With the changing face of the financial industry it is critical that we, as Board Chairs, adapt to stay ahead of the trends. The NACUC serves as an outlet and a resource for credit union Chairmen to bring their experience, mentorship, suggestions and ideas to other Board Chairs. This kind of leadership and exchange of ideas is what will keep credit unions thriving for generations to come," said Rose Rangel, NACUC Chairman of the Board. To be eligible, a Chairman must be from a credit union with less than $25 million in assets, a current Board Chairman or Director in good standing with their credit union, and must be willing to become a member of the NACUC. Interested applicants should visit www.nacuc.org for more information or email celeste@nacuc.org.
