Credit Union Holds Donation Drive to Benefit Spruce Pavilion
February 10, 2014
From October through December, the Diamond Credit Union Branch located in the Reading Hospital, held a Diamond Cares donation drive to benefit the Reading Health Systems Spruce Pavilion. The Spruce Pavilion is a psychiatric hospital, offering support to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. As part of the donation drive, the branch rewarded those making monetary donations with chocolate covered pretzels, and collected donations of clothing, weekly pill boxes, shower flip flops, and weighted blankets. Diamond staff members also knitted gloves to keep patients warm over the winter months. In total, the branch collected six boxes of supplies and $934.00 to help make patients more comfortable during their stay at the Spruce Pavilion.
"I am so thankful that, through the support of our members, Diamond was able to make this donation to the Spruce Pavilion. With our branch being located directly in the main hospital building of the Reading Health System, we really get to know so many of these employees, and its wonderful to be able to give back through the Diamond Cares initiative," stated Theresa Page, Branch Manager, Diamond Credit Union.
The donation was made as part of the annual Diamond Cares initiative. This is the fourth Diamond Cares donation drive held by the Reading Health System Branch over that past three years. Previous donation drives have benefited the Oncology Department, Rehabilitation Hospital, and Womens Health Center.
Diamond Credit Union is the 18th largest credit union in Pennsylvania and is headquartered in Pottstown, Pa., with three additional offices in the Reading area. Diamond serves Berks County and the Tri-County Region and holds over $415 million in assets with over 46,500 members.
