January 28, 2014
Edwardsville, IL-- Dan Obernuefemann of Mt. Olive made a commitment to become more financially fit in 2013. His efforts were rewarded, and given a boost, recently when Scott Credit Union announced that he was the winner of its "Take The Pledge" financial fitness program.
Obernuefemann was on hand at SCU recently to receive his $1,000 Certificate prize.
Obernuefemann was the winner of the program that was offered by SCU to help area residents take control of their finances by receiving financial tips, attending free seminars, having access to financial advice.
"At the end of the program, we chose one participant to win the $1,000 certificate to help kick-start their savings," said SCU Community Relations Supervisor Ashleigh Deatherage. "We truly care about our members and their financial lives. This is the perfect time for us to help people learn more about handling their finances."
Scott Credit Union also recently announced the start of its 2014 Take The Pledge Program that will run through June. This years program is designed to be completely available online to make it even easier for area residents to participate.
"To take the pledge to be financially fit, members simply enroll online on our web site at scu.org," Deatherage added. "Once they do that, they are entered for a chance to win the $1,000, one-year certificate grand prize."
Once participants enroll in the free program, they receive an email with instructions on how to track their progress in their effort to improve their finances.
"Plus, they receive weekly email updates that provide them with financial tips and tools, exclusive money-saving incentives and the opportunity to ask financial questions that will be answered by our experienced team. They also are invited to attend free online financial webinars," Deatherage said. "Those who watch the online seminars can earn additional entries in the prize drawing."
Participants also can earn additional entries in the prize drawings by sharing the "Take The Pledge" program on Facebook.
"This program is really designed to encourage people to make a commitment to be financially fit," Deatherage noted. "We help them with their commitment by providing them with financial tips and tools, as well as the opportunity to ask our team questions about their finances."
Scott Credit Union plans to release eight free seminars over the course of the next six months on its site, including topics such as money management, home buying, car buying, identity theft, and couponing. The credit union will also offer a home buying seminar at its Home Office in Edwardsville in April.
"We are really proud of the Take The Pledge program and the opportunity to help people improve their financial lives," Deatherage said. "We have a strong series of free online seminars and are providing participants in the program with tools that can help them now and in the future."
