Credit Unions Unite to Support Children's Hospital

RomeThe Level II Special Care Nursery at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare will receive a new infant incubator, thanks to 11 credit unions from the Utica-Rome Chapter. The new incubator will replace a previous model that was more than 30 years old and technologically inferior. Participating credit unions included: AmeriCU Credit Union, First Source FCU, GPO FCU, Mohawk Valley FCU, Remington FCU, Rome FCU, Rome Teachers FCU, Special Metals FCU, UMICO FCU, Utica Gas & Electric FCU and Utica Telephone Employees FCU. Through chapter-level cooperation, the credit unions raised $21,258.35 for the new incubatoreasily surpassing their pledge of $20,000. The funds were raised in a variety of ways: Some credit unions "sold" candy and Childrens Miracle Network Hospital balloons, while others sold bookmarks containing pictures created by children receiving treatment at the hospitals. The individual donations from credit union staff and members during Miracle Jeans Daywhich were matched by CO-OP Financial Servicesalso made up a large portion of the contributions.
