Credit Unions Promote Financial Fitness

CaptureCOLUMBIA, MD-Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia credit unions; the MD|DC Credit Union Association and its D.C. and Suburban Maryland chapters; the Virginia Credit Union League; the Credit Union Foundation of MD and DC; the National Credit Union Foundation; SavvyMoney; and the Credit Union National Association joined forces�to create credit union awareness and encourage financial fitness at the NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo. Credit unions are working cooperatively to encourage consumers to resolve to get financially fit in 2014.

Over 85,000 attendees descended on the Washington D.C. Convention Center January 11 & 12 and while many visit the expo to get their health in shape, a collaboration of credit unions�were on hand to help consumers get financially fit. Credit unions partnered with SavvyMoney to bring consumer financial expert, Jean Chatzky to the expo, as well as offer free financial checkups for attendees. �They also hosted a seminar on financial fitness featuring Jean Chatzky. The SavvyMoney Checkup is a free financial assessment that has been designed especially for credit union members, which evaluates debt and expenses relative to ones income and offers suggestions to help improve their situation. Expo attendees will had the opportunity to take the short assessment to determine their financial health. Credit unions are a smarter choice for financial services and have a shared vision to offer the best, quality services to all members. Credit unions in MD, DC and VA serve more than 10 million members who benefit from focused member services, financial education and products and services designed to fit their financial needs. This joint effort shows the credit union shared vision of promoting financial security to all consumers.
