Credit Union Donates $1,000 to Arthritis Foundation

Edwardsville, Illinois Scott Credit Union recently donated $1,000 to the Arthritis Foundation to sponsor this years Jingle Bell Run.
The 2013 Jingle Bell Run was held Dec 7 at the Godfrey Knights of Columbus. The run is the Arthritis Foundations annual event that raises awareness and funds to fight arthritis, the nations most common cause of disability.
To celebrate the holiday season, participants tied jingle bells to their shoelaces, wore festive holiday costumes while running to support the Arthritis Foundations mission to prevent, control and cure arthritis.
This nationwide event boasted more than 120,000 runners throughout the country while raising more than $8.2 million in 2012.
Scott Credit Unions Community Relations Representative Lauren Hoefert recently presented the $1,000 check to run Chairperson Jody Basola.
"This is another opportunity for us to give back to the community by helping the Arthritis Foundation raise money to help people in our area who suffer with arthritis," Hoefert said. "We are always happy to play a small role in these types of projects that really touch the lives of so many people throughout our region".
"Credit unions are really about helping people and this is another way for us to take that even a step further," she added.
Scott Credit Union has made giving back to its communities a major priority. The local credit union contributed about $325,000, and its employees volunteered over 2,400 hours to a variety of area civic efforts throughout the region in 2013.
