Credit Union Sponsors Basketball Shootout

ScottRepresentatives from Scott Credit Union presented a check recently for $3,000 to Highland Optimist Club President Dennis Calvert for sponsorship of the annual Highland Basketball Shootout. This is the fourth year that Scott Credit Union is the namesake sponsor of the showcase event, which will be held Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Highland High School Gym. The Shootout will feature five games beginning with the Highland Girls taking on Glenwood High School at noon. The second game will feature the Wesclin High School boys team facing Mater Dei at 1:45 p.m. Game three will be Chaminade High School boys squaring off against Fort Zumwalt North at 3:30 p.m. The fourth game of the event will be a battle between Highland and Glenwood High at 5:15 p.m. The final game of the Shootout features Springfield Lanphier against CBC at 7 p.m. "Were excited about being the primary sponsor of the Shootout," said Scott Credit Union Community Relations Representative Lauren Hoefert. "It has always been a premier event and we are happy to support it. We believe in supporting schools and the community and this gives us another chance to do that." Scott Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative that is member owned. The credit union recently gave about $1.3 million back to members through a bonus dividend and loan interest rebate. Scott Credit Union has made giving back to its communities a major priority. The local credit union contributed about $325,000, and its employees volunteered over 2,400 hours to a variety of area civic efforts throughout the region in 2013. Scott Credit Union is open to anyone who lives or works in a 17 county area, including Madison, St. Clair, Monroe, Randolph, Perry, Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Clinton, Marion, Bond, Macoupin, Montgomery, Fayette, Effingham, Williamson, and Jackson counties. Anyone who lives or works in St. Louis County, Missouri also can open accounts at SCU. Additionally, anyone active or retired military also can have accounts with Scott Credit Union.
