Bringing Back Hope into the Christmas Spirit
TEXAS CITY, TEXAS- On Monday, December 16, 2013 AMOCO Federal Credit Union hosted a Christmas Party for Independence Village and Hope Village (both AMOCO SEGs) at our Friendswood Branch located at 235 East Parkwood Ave.
Independence Village and Hope Village are assisted living quarters for people with mental and developmental disabilities; Independence Village assists people with physical disabilities as well. The villagers Christmas party follows the annual Hope Village Christmas Pageant, which took place last Thursday, December 12. This years Christmas pageant marked Hope Villages 40th year to have a Christmas performance. AMOCO sponsored a table at the pageant and employees brought their friends and families to enjoy the show. As a credit union that works for the community, AMOCO believes in giving back to the people who are always there for us. That is why these two events are by far our favorite to participate in.
"It takes an entire village to make this event so successful," Kevin Venable, Culture and Communications Manager stated. Therefore, not only did the entire Culture and Communications team contribute to this event, but in addition we had Santas helpers (Platinum Club members) there to help us too.
As each guest arrived they were greeted by Santa Claus, who happens to be one of AMOCOs Board of Directors, Roger McCrary. Salad, pizza, pasta, cupcakes and ice cream were on the menu for lunch, and after dessert the real treat was served, presents! Every one of our guests was presented with necessary toiletries and Santa handed out handmade tissue holders, made by his one and only Mrs. Claus, Dianne McCrary.
Excitement filled the room as the tissue paper was tossed around and the wrapping paper fell to the floor. Each gift brought joy to all of our guests and they were especially excited about their handmade quilted tissue holders. The excitement we brought to the villagers doesnt compare to the happiness each AMOCO employee experienced.
