Credit Union Launches Toys for Tots Drive

ToysforTots3PORTSMOUTH, N.H.�- Service Credit Union, in conjunction with the U.S. Marine Corps, recently announced the launch of the 2013 Toys for Tots drive. The credit unions President/CEO, Gordon Simmons, was on hand to greet Marine Corps Representative Staff Sergeant Daniel Sierra at the credit unions corporate headquarters located at 3003 Lafayette Road in Portsmouth. For the second consecutive year, Service Credit Union will be partnering with Toys for Tots as a corporate-wide initiative and will be collecting toys in all of its New Hampshire branches. The drive will end the week of December 16th when the Marines will pick up the boxes. The Toys for Tots Foundation is the fundraising, funding and support organization for the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. Each year, The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation relies on the generous donations from corporate partners like Service Credit Union to help collect and deliver gifts to children. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. Children from across the state will benefit from the toys collected at Service Credit Union branches. The partnership with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots expands Service Credit Unions already strong commitment to helping the children in the communities where it does business. Service Credit Union is also a longtime supporter for all branches of the military. Service Credit Unions roots began more than 55 years ago at the Pease Air Force base. Toys for Tots began in 1947, when Major Bill Hendricks, USCR and a group of Marine Reservists in Los Angeles collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children. "Service Credit Union strongly supports the mission of the Marine Toys for Tots program and looks forward to another very successful toy collection campaign in all of our New Hampshire branches for this extremely worthwhile organization," says Simmons.
