SAN FRANCISCO, CA The catastrophic events from Typhoon Haiyan have dramatically impacted the employees and members of the San Francisco Filipino community. The San Francisco Federal Credit Union Board of Directors has donated $10,000 to the San Francisco Filipino Community Center for Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts. San Francisco FCU also has provided a link on its website to collect funds for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and is waiving international wire transfer fees to the Philippines through December 31, 2013. President and CEO Steven Stapp, along with Credit Union staff, presented the check to the Filipino Community Center, which is coordinating relief efforts through the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFC). "Our thoughts go out to all those who have been affected by this tragic event," said Stapp. "It is our hope that this donation will help bring food, water, shelter, medical support and other relief services to the Philippines so that healing and rebuilding can begin." San Francisco Federal Credit Union has a number of employees and members from the Philippines or with strong ties to the Philippines, so the cause holds particular importance for the credit union. The credit union staff received an update on the relief efforts and encourages the community and other civic organizations to respond to this need. "This disaster hits close to home for us because so many people in our credit unions family have been affected," said Stapp. "Our staff and members have loved ones and connections to the Philippines. We will continue to do what we can to support these relief efforts."
