Credit Union Awards $500 Grant to Food Pantry

donna ronMIDDLETOWN, CT - The American Eagle Federal Credit Union Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving awarded a $500 grant to the Amazing Grace Food Pantry in Middletown. The Amazing Grace Food Pantry, a program operated by St. Vincent de Paul, serves the poor and homeless in the �Greater Middletown area.

"American Eagle Federal Credit Union is glad to provide this grant to the Amazing Grace Food Pantry to help purchase food for distribution to needy families in Middletown," said William Dokas, American Eagle Federal Credit Unions president and chief executive officer. "This grant will help the Amazing Grace Food Pantry continue to serve an ever-growing number of people in this challenging economy," said Ronald R. Krom, Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul. �"American Eagle FCUs partnership helps the Pantry continue to offer nutritious food, assistance, and hope," he added. In addition to this grant, the American Eagle Federal Credit Unions Middletown branch collected over 500 pounds of food for the Amazing Grace Food Pantry this year. The Credit Union would like to thank the generosity of the employees at the Middletown Pratt & Whitney plant as well as community members and American Eagle employees in Middletown. About the Amazing Grace Food Pantry The Amazing Grace Food Pantry is a program of the Middletown chapter of St. Vincent de Paul. Founded in 1980, St. Vincent de Paul Middletown was created to assist with the needs of the poor and homeless throughout Greater Middletown. Located at 16 Stack Street, the Amazing Grace Food Pantry provides nourishing food free of charge to local individuals and families in need. Last year, they served approximately 950 households and 260,860 meals.
