costumes Somerville, MA - CPCU Credit Union employees dressed up in Halloween costumes on Thursday, October 31 to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as part of the Costumes for a Cure fundraiser. In a week, CPCU raised nearly $500 between both branches and online; CPCU matched the donation for a total of $1,000. Each year, CPCU Credit Union selects a recipient for the funds they raise through their Costumes for a Cure event. On Halloween, employees dress up and members vote for the best costume through their donations. In order to maximize the number of donations, CPCU informed their members a week in advance and set up an online site where donations could be made. In addition, employees were given the opportunity to wear jeans instead of their normal work attire the following Friday for a $5 donation to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. "I am excited that our fundraisers have picked up momentum year after year and that our employees and members look forward to these events. We had nearly 100% participation from our staff and our members exceeded donation totals from previous years. These kinds of events are important to CPCU as helping local organizations are part of our larger goal of helping our community," commented Rui F. Domingos, Chief Executive Officer at CPCU Credit Union.
