Credit Union Donates $2,500 to Food Bank

ICFCU_donWCFBFitchburg, MA� IC Federal Credit Union donated $2500 to the Worcester County Food Bank to support its hunger-relief efforts during the holiday season. "The need for food in our local communities remains high," said Jean McMurray, executive director of the Worcester County Food Bank, "food stamp benefits have been reduced for 480,000 families in Massachusetts and we expect they will turn to local food pantries and regional food banks for more help."� The Worcester County Food Bank is the regions leading anti-hunger organization distributing over 5 million pounds of donated food and grocery product to local food assistance programs in partnership with food donors, financial supporters, and volunteers. President and CEO of IC, Tony Emerson stated: "It is sometimes difficult to comprehend that in a modern world of extensive progress and technology, hunger still remains an obstacle to overcome." "Every dollar donated equals five dollars worth of food," said McMurray, "and if everyone does their part by donating, it all adds up to have a meaningful impact in the lives of our neighbors in need."
