Credit Union Supports Habitat for Humanity
November 18, 2013
Sioux Falls, SD - Every year, Habitat for Humanity in Sioux Falls, SD helps put hard working families into houses that they can call a home by working side by side with volunteers. In many ways, the philosophy of Habitat for Humanity is very much like a credit union's: members helping members, and the collective strength of people working together. It was that common theme that inspired Voyage Federal Credit Union to become involved with Habitat for Humanity this year to make a difference.
Working closely with their corporate partners, Voyage FCU put together a "Dream Team" made up of volunteers that helped place 10 families into 10 homes.
Because of these extraordinary efforts, Habitat for Humanity recently named Voyage Federal Credit Union of Sioux Falls, SD the "2013 Construction Volunteer of the Year." At a luncheon and ceremony that was held last week, the credit union shared the honor with their business partners: Avera, CenturyLink, Lewis, Orion, Raven, and VOA.
Darla Erb, Voyage CEO, thanked her staff and credit union members who volunteered for the project, saying "Thanks to all of you who raised your hand (and perhaps a hammer) to give back to our community and assist the families through this project."
Congratulations to Voyage FCU on this great achievement!
