Credit Union Hosts Free Financial Literacy Seminar

tccu smrtz4Minot, ND - More than 300 Minot area high school seniors attended $MRTZ, A Financial Education Experience, on Wednesday, October 9th at Minot State University (MSU). �$MRTZ is a free, one day, financial literacy seminar hosted by Town & Country Credit Union in partnership with Minot State University and the NDSU Extension Service. Included in this years agenda was a student panel, where current MSU students shared their personal experiences with credit cards, financial aid and living on a students budget. �Breakout sessions running throughout the day included: Budgeting Basics, Fun and Games in Financial Aid, Credit 101 and Your Money Future. �The closing keynote address featured a participatory game called "Do You Think Like a Millionaire?" hosted by Amy Jo Johnson, Jump$tart Coalition and Sally Paulson, Bismarck Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of $MRTZ is to provide a day of free personal finance education to high school students. �"As a credit union we feel its our responsibility to make financial education opportunities available not only to our members but to our community as a whole," stated Shannon Webster SVP Marketing, Town & Country Credit Union. Since 2009, more than 1,300 students have taken part in the Minot $MRTZ seminar.� The event is coordinated and organized by a group of volunteers and funded by Town & Country Credit Union and the Credit Union Foundation of the Dakotas.
