IMCU became an official "Collect-A-Million" Club member for the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana by collecting and donating over one million aluminum tabs from soda cans to help generate needed funds to support Indianas only "home away from home" for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment at Riley Hospital for Children IU Health and other Indianapolis area hospitals. IMCU began collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House during the first quarter of 2013. President and CEO of IMCU, Ron Collier, issued a challenge to the organization to collect one million pop tabs by October, putting IMCU in the "Collect-A-Million" Club. IMCUs Marion branch collected the most pop tabs in the credit union wide challenge helping IMCU to not only meet but exceeded the goal. As a result, IMCU presented Director of Development for the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana, Joe Schulz, with 1,147,000 pop tabs on Monday, October 14, 2013, during their annual employee seminar. Collier said, "We are proud to be a part of the "Collect-A-Million" Club for the Ronald McDonald House. IMCU is committed to serving our community and supporting charitable organizations like the Ronald McDonald House. Many IMCU employees volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House and have seen first-hand how great of an organization it truly is. I am proud of our IMCU Team for working together to provide additional support for the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana." The Pop Tab Recycling Campaign began about fifteen years ago and has generated over $500,000 for the Ronald McDonald House. With the support of groups like IMCU, over one billion tabs have been collected! The funds received from the recycling of tabs adds up to approximately $50,000 annually. All this money goes to the operating expenses of the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana and can cover the cost of operating 3 rooms in the House for an entire year. Indiana Members Credit Union, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, was founded in 1956 as the Indiana University Medical Center Federal Credit Union on the campus of IUPUI, and has since grown to 25 branches in Central Indiana, offering members a better financial alternative and a full array of products and services. Traditionally offering better rates on loans and deposits, IMCU maintains true to its roots by "Keeping It Simple" for members. For more information, please visit IMCU online at www.imcu.org.
