Credit Union Supports Financial Literacy at Local School
November 2, 2013
URW Credit Union opened its most recent local branch Friday morning in Danville at Galileo Magnet High School.
The division of the credit union, called the "Falcon Branch," joins the institutions sister-branch at George Washington High School as the areas second student-operated credit union.
According to Galileo Principal Jay Lancaster and Technology Instructor Joyce Culley, the goal of the student-run branch is to provide students with hands-on experience in the banking industry, teaching them financial literacy while equipping them with skills in a valuable, real-world trade.
