Local Teachers Receive Grants

WCCU Awards over $9,000 in Teacher Grants to Local Teachers
Westerly Community Credit Union is proud to announce they have recently awarded (21) WCCU Teacher Grants, totaling over $9,000, for the 2023/24 school year. This year, the Westerly Community Credit Union has awarded teacher grants to teachers from the Coventry, Exeter-West Greenwich, Narragansett, South Kingstown, Stonington, and Westerly school districts. To date, WCCU has awarded over $63,300 in teacher grants.
Congratulations to the following Teacher Grant Recipients:
- Pamela Betres, Maria Boulmetis, Andrew Gervasini, Cynthia Ballard, Kristin Abood and Alexandria McKay of the Coventry School District
- Robin Borges and Matthew Savoie of the Exeter-West Greenwich School District
- Zachary Sirowich, Kristen Bryce, Linda McQuaide, Kayla Tobin and Kimberly O’Donnell of the Narragansett School District
- Amber Horton Lambert and Tiffany Court of the South Kingstown School District
- Laura Dow, Elaine Temel and Diane Gallo of the Stonington School District
- Elizabeth Scheibl, Bea Lukens and Susan Russell of the Westerly School District
“We are always incredibly amazed with the dedication and passion of our local educators, said Steve White, WCCU President and CEO. “Each year we award funding for innovative projects to teachers who go above and beyond. We look forward to supporting educators and their creative projects for many more years through our Teacher Grant program.”
Westerly Community Credit Union’s Teacher Grant Program awarded grants in values up to $500. These grants are awarded annually to support creative and experiential educational projects or programs in the area’s school districts. Special consideration is given to innovative projects that strengthen the relationship between our schools and the community at large, and to projects that support student excellence. All applications are judged on the following criteria: Educational Focus, Promotion of Skills/Excellence, Creativity/Innovation, Community Connection, and Goal Clarity/Attainability.
