UW Credit Union Employees Raise Nearly $370,000 this Giving Season/

A word from Victoria Boucher, Community Engagement Strategist

It’s the season of giving, and in that spirit, UW Credit Union’s 900+ employees are celebrating the results of one of our favorite traditions: our annual workplace giving campaign.//

Each year, this fundraising initiative benefits two amazing organizations that work to address social and racial inequities in the areas where we live and work: United Way and Community Shares of Wisconsin.//

As in past years, UW Credit Union generously matches all employee pledges dollar-for-dollar to help make our collective impact that much stronger. I’m proud to share that those donations, alongside funds raised from special events like our companywide Silent Auction, department fundraisers and more, collectively raised just shy of $370,000 – exceeding our target goal by 15%./

This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the leadership of our three campaign managers:/

  • Cailley Hammel, Social Media and Storytelling Strategist/
  • Kelley Lawrenz, Mortgage Lending Systems Coordinator/
  • Courtney O’Brien-Manders, Senior Financial Specialist, UW-Whitewater branch/

The generosity of our employees cannot be understated. In a time of economic uncertainty, and a climate where charitable giving by individuals is on the decline, our employees continue to embrace our Core Values and step forward to support the needs of Wisconsin communities./

While meeting and exceeding our goal is wonderful news, better still is celebrating the impact those dollars can make. For example, the funds we raised can support 140 local families experiencing homelessness with a security deposit and first month's rent. It can provide 40 women with fully covered prenatal care, birthing and postpartum services. And it can provide more than 4,000 hours of one-on-one instruction to high school students as they prepare for and develop higher education skills. We are proud to make such an impact in our communities. //

If you would like to join us this giving season by donating your time or a monetary gift to United Way or Community Shares of Wisconsin, please do so via one of these links:/

The possibilities of what we can do when we come together are truly amazing. This giving season, if you’re able, we hope you join us in our efforts to make a difference throughout Wisconsin.
