Credit Unions Help Raise Over $115,000 for Children's Hospital
October 30, 2013
On October 13th, 20 Southern California Credit Unions and Credit Union partners walked together at the 23rd annual CHOC Walk at Disneyland. The team had over 825 walkers from local Southern California credit unions and made up the largest team walking that day in the cooperative credit union spirit.
The fundraising efforts from all teams totaled over $115,000, with some credit unions receiving matching funds from the CO-OP Miracle Match. The Credit Unions for CHOC Team was comprised of the following credit unions and partners: Autoland, CalCom Federal Credit Union, Camino Federal Credit Union, Credit Union Direct Lending (CUDL), California/Nevada Credit Union League, Credit Union of Southern California, Eagle Community Credit Union, Federal One Federal Credit Union, Financial Partners Credit Union, Health Associates Credit Union, Kinecta Federal Credit Union, Mattel Federal Credit Union, Nuvision Federal Credit Union, Orange Countys Credit Union, Patriots Federal Credit Union, Santa Ana Federal Credit Union, Schools First Federal Credit Union, Wescom Credit Union and Western Federal Credit Union.
Bill Birnie, CEO at Eagle Community Credit Union participated in the CHOC Walk last year and came up with the idea of forming the credit union team. "Last year I noticed several credit unions walking separately and it dawned on me that we really need to collaborate and come together for CHOC&after all, thats what credit unions are all about!"
