Responding to a pressing community need

As a result of the catastrophic flooding across Vermont in July, the state's Department of Children and Families issued an urgent request to temporarily relocate a significant number of children in their care due to flood displacement.

Vermont Federal Credit Union responded to the need by spreading the word at a Foster Care Appreciation & Awareness Night at the July 19 Lake Monsters baseball game. Vermont Federal is sponsoring the evening by covering the cost of tickets for all foster families who attend.

Vermont Federal's leader Maribeth Spellman was interviewed in a July 19 WCAX-TV segment about the evening. You can view it at https://www.wcax.com/2023/07/20/dcf-asks-families-consider-opening-their-homes-foster-kids/

“It’s important for these families to find opportunities to connect and bond, and we’re really glad that we’re able to support that,” said Maribeth Spellman of the Vermont Federal Credit Union.
