Chartway Promise Foundation Raises For Children and Surprises Local Teen with College Tuition Wish
During its 7th Annual Putting for Promises golf tournament, the Chartway Promise Foundation raised more than $66,500 to benefit medically fragile children in Utah.
The day’s biggest surprise was reserved for Alexis Meek, a local 18-year-old cancer patient, who learned that her “Wish” had been granted during the post-event golf lunch held at Thanksgiving Point Golf Course in Lehi, UT.
Thanks to funds provided by the Chartway Promise Foundation to its partner, Make-A-Wish Utah, Alexis will receive $7,500 for her college tuition when she enrolls as a freshman at Utah State University in the Fall. Following the tournament, Chartway presented Make-A-Wish Utah with a charitable grant of $200,000 to fulfill the life-changing wishes for 40 children with critical illnesses. “We love our partnership with Make-A-Wish Utah; and since 2010, we’ve invested over $2.5M in MAW Utah to bring joy, hope, and smiles to medically fragile children in our community,” said Christine Wilson, Chartway Promise Foundation president.
“The Chartway Promise Foundation is one of Make-A-Wish Utah’s longest-standing and most generous partners,” said Daniel Dudley, Chief Development Officer for Make-A-Wish Utah. “They routinely go above and beyond to support children and their families who are facing life-threatening medical situations, and we can’t thank them enough for their incredible support to spark hope for more than 40 local children just when they need it most.”
This year, the Chartway Promise Foundation has awarded more than $770,000 in grants to companion charities that support medically fragile children. Collectively, Chartway’s team members volunteer more than 8,000 hours each year in the communities where they live and work.
