westerlyWesterly, RI - The Westerly Community Credit Union is pleased to announce that Narragansett Elementary School is participating in their Save for America School Savings program. Their first school bank day took place on Tuesday, October 22, at 12:00pm. The Save for America School Savings program is a bank-at-school program designed to help students learn the basics of saving money by filling out deposit slips, adding deposits in their savings books as well as learning to set goals and save their money for something special. Founded in 1980, Save For America is the only school savings program endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education, Department of the Treasury and the White House. WCCU began sponsoring the educational program in 2005, and is currently coordinating the program in seven schools in RI and CT. More than ever, parents are looking for ways to help their children understand the importance of saving money and learning good savings habits for their future, states Steve White, President and CEO of WCCU. This program works well with our primary goal of helping members achieve financial success.
