Members Generously Donate Nearly $857,000
During Sacramento Region’s Annual Big Day of Giving

Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) today announced its members donated nearly $857,000 to 694 Sacramento region nonprofits during this year’s Big Day of Giving, marking a 6% donation increase over last year.

“Golden 1 members and the communities we serve are at the heart of everything we do, and we are continuously inspired by our members’ generosity and care every year,” said Erica Taylor, Vice President of Communications and Community Relations for Golden 1 Credit Union. “We are proud to once again support our region’s nonprofits that continue to make a positive impact throughout the Sacramento area.”

For the 11th consecutive year, Golden 1 proportionally matched member donations made with a Golden 1 debit or credit card, this year matching up to $100,000. The credit union divides its matching funds between nonprofits selected by members. Top local organizations members donated to include the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, Friends of Front Street Animal Shelter, Sacramento SPCA, Sacramento Zoological Society, and Sacramento Loaves & Fishes. Golden 1’s overall matching funds, corporate donations, and sponsorship totaled $165,000 this year.

“Golden 1 has been a tremendous partner to Big Day of Giving for more than a decade,” said Kerry Wood, Chief Executive Officer of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation. “Golden 1’s continued commitment, along with the generosity of the region, has allowed us to further the missions of so many nonprofits that are working to meet the needs of our community.”

Overall, Big Day of Giving raised a record $13.8 million for hundreds of local nonprofits this year. Big Day of Giving has helped area nonprofits raise more than $91 million since launching in 2013. The annual giving day aims to unite the region to raise unrestricted funds for local nonprofits who provide vital programs and services that help local communities.
