Lake Charles CU Chapter and CMN Hospitals Share Good Times & Grill Marks

On April 29, 2023, up to ten amateur BBQ grillers came together to mop and sop their best meats in the 1st Annual NICU Reunion Family Fun Day BBQ Contest in support of Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) through Christus Ochsner Lake Area Hospital. 

The Lake Charles Credit Union Chapter of the Louisiana Credit Union League was this year’s BBQ Cook-Off sponsor and assisted in the fun-filled day. Volunteers from various credit unions who belong to the local chapter came together to assist in monitoring the needs of each BBQ team, vendors, and tent activities. 

Entries were in the categories of chicken, ribs, and brisket. All cooking was managed on site starting with the raw check-in at 7 pm on Friday, April 28th. The delicious smells of BBQ filled the Nelson Road area, enticing passersby to stop in. 

“Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals do outstanding work caring for these special children and their families,” said Chad Miller, President of the Lake Charles Credit Union Chapter and BBQ Lead. “We are honored to support their efforts and show them the credit union way of people helping people.”
