Greater Texas Credit Union Employees Adopt Eight Families from Any Baby Can for Christmas
December 8, 2022
AUSTIN, Dec. 7, 2022 – Almost 30 years ago, Jacqueline Hammett’s daughter Mystique spent the Christmas holidays in the neonatal unit of a children’s hospital, facing serious health challenges.
The charity Any Baby Can provided baby furniture, diapers, clothing, and continued services then, just as it still does for babies and families in need today. Two decades later, Jacqueline works in the contact center at Greater Texas Credit Union and Mystique is 29 years old.
It is that type of help for the most vulnerable that drives Greater Texas employees to continue to support Any Baby Can, this year “adopting” eight families and providing gifts to brighten their Christmas season. If any employee needed to know the good that Any Baby Can does, all they need to do is ask Jacqueline.
Knowing how inflation is pinching families and making it harder to provide, employees rallied to provide a bountiful Christmas for struggling families. Partnering with Any Baby Can, the employees took on the task of providing a holiday blessing for eight families, a total of 32 people.
Employees purchased toys, games, clothes, gift cards to ensure every family member has presents to unwrap on Christmas day.
“There will be many surprises and lots of smiles on Christmas morning because of the generosity of these employees from Greater Texas,” said Veronda Durden, President and CEO of Any Baby Can and a board member at Greater Texas. “Their generosity and love for others will go a long way to helping these families get through this difficult time and give parents hope for the future.”
Employees had a wrapping party at Greater Texas headquarters to prepare all the Christmas gifts they purchased. The presents were then delivered to Any Baby Can to be distributed to the families.
