imagesBattle Creek, Mich. A $2,000 grant was awarded to the Kalamazoo Chapter of the American Red Cross through the OMNI Gives Back Grant Program. The Red Cross knows it is not simply enough to respond to disasters, states an excerpt from the grant application. Ensuring that communities can recover from a disaster starts well before a tornado touches down or a spark ignites. We must make sure families and communities can recover from these events and be better prepared for the next one. We've all seen the magic the Red Cross works across the country, OMNI CEO Ted Parsons commented. This organization does a great deal of good for those who are left with the aftermath of a disaster. Were pleased theyve come to us for assistance and even more pleased to provide it. The funds will be used to provide assistance for those affected by disasters in Allegan, Kalamazoo and St. Joseph counties. The Red Cross is grateful for community partners like OMNI who help make it possible for us to respond to and prepare for emergencies, said Mike Mitchell, Regional Chief Operating Officer for the American Red Cross of West Michigan. Gifts like these ensure our ability to continue serving members of our communities when they need help the most. Through the OMNI Gives Back Grant Program, the credit union seeks and accepts grant applications from local non-profits whose programs support the credit union philosophy of People Helping People. Complete details and access to the grant application are available at givesback.omnicommunitycu.org.
