First Community Credit Union (FCCU) recently held fundraisers for their 2022 third quarter charity, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN). Employees of FCCU choose a different cause each quarter to support by raising money and awareness. FCCU was able to raise $5,000 for this worthy cause. The donation will stay local with 100 percent going to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care. The CMN hospital serving the credit union’s region is Sanford Children's Hospital in Fargo, providing the most advanced and specialized pediatric care for children in the state of North Dakota and northwest Minnesota.

“It’s humbling to see the impact that a donation can make,” said Susan Long Swen, Event and Community Engagement Specialist. She continues, “We have seen the amount of compassion and effort staff provide to the children as well as their families. It is an honor to donate to such a worthy cause and trust that it will also provide hope and encouragement.”

Funds were raised through various means including a CMN t-shirt sale, miracle balloon pin up sales, grill outs, breakfast fundraisers and more. Other ways FCCU supported CMN included virtual presentations to spread awareness, participating in Dairy Queen’s annual Miracle Treat Day, and personal stories shared by staff about their experience with CMN.

During its 83-year history, First Community Credit Union has grown to be North Dakota’s largest Credit Union. As a credit union, FCCU is owned by its members. This is different than other financial institutions which are owned by a select group of stockholders. The Credit Union's profits are returned to the members in the form of better services, accounts, and favorable rates on savings and loans.
