The month of November is National Gratitude Month in the U.S. In an effort to share its thanks to the community it serves, this Thanksgiving, Teachers Federal Credit Union hosted a food drive benefiting the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless (LICH).
On November 16th, Teachers delivered a total of 40 Thanksgiving baskets to LICH filled with traditional holiday foods. As an organization that takes pride in giving back to the community, all employees were encouraged to participate in this company-funded initiative. Each basket will be donated to a family in need through LICH, allowing a stress-free meal to be shared with loved ones.
LICH was originally founded in 1985 as a grassroots local advocacy effort to bring non-profits and other community partners together to unite around the cause of homelessness. Teachers is proud to support the LICH in its mission to alleviate the issues associated with homelessness and poverty for homeless and at-risk persons in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Teachers Federal Credit Union has grown to one of the country’s largest credit unions with $9.2 billion in assets and more than 420,000 members. Teachers is eternally grateful for the community support they received through this stage of growth. Over the years and through various partnerships, Teachers has been proud of its role as a key supporter of the communities it serves.
