BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —Through Credit Unions for Kids, many credit unions commit to partnering with their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. CO Credit Union has supported Children’s of Alabama since 2009 and is historically the top fundraising credit union in the state of Alabama.

CO Credit Union’s 2022 Change for Children’s fundraiser, to support Children’s of Alabama, took place from September 6 through October 19. Members and the community were able to donate in all CO Credit Union branches and through an online fundraising platform. CO also received a $10,000 Miracle Match from Co-Op. After the fundraiser, CO donated more than $50,000 to Children’s of Alabama.

CO employees are passionate about Children's of Alabama and the difference the hospital makes in the lives of Children and families across Alabama. Their passion transfers to the members, and everyone gets excited about raising money. CO’s members are very quick to support Children's Hospital and always go above and beyond with donations.

“We are fortunate to have Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham,” said CO CEO, Joey Hand. “For over ten years CO has been committed to raising funds that directly support the patients and families at Children’s of Alabama. The Change for Children’s fundraiser is one way we support an organization that is making a huge difference throughout the state of Alabama. The success of the fundraiser each year shows that our employees and members truly believe in the cause and how excited they are about serving the community. I’m proud to see the commitment continue and grow, as we support the hospital that means so much to families throughout Birmingham and Alabama. We appreciate our members, families, and vendors joining in on our fundraising efforts. CO Credit Union is glad to be able to support this cause once again, and we are already looking forward to next year!”

CO Credit Union has raised more than $516,000 to support Children’s of Alabama in 13 years of fundraising.

“We are grateful to CO Credit Union’s employees and members who have contributed to Children’s of Alabama through this year’s campaign,” said Charlie Ann Shepard, Community Development Coordinator at Children’s of Alabama. “Funds from CO help Children’s provide transformational care and services that treat the whole child, both physically and emotionally. The support of CO continues to be an encouragement to all of us here at Children’s and helps provide brighter futures for children from all across Alabama. We know community is at the center of CO’s mission, and we are proud to be the beneficiary of their efforts to better healthcare for children in their local communities.”
