FCCU out of the darkness donationBismarck, ND - During each quarter of 2013, First Community Credit Union (FCCU), has held fundraisers for different worthy organizations. The third quarter fundraising organization, as chosen by FCCU staff, was Out of the Darkness for suicide prevention. Collectively, more than $1,000 was raised for Out of the Darkness. External fundraising included Pin Ups. Pin Ups were purchased for $1.00 at each branch. Everyone who purchased a pinup could write their name on them and have their pin up displayed in the branch locations. FCCU employees also participated in Community Walks for Out of the Darkness in Bismarck, Fargo and Valley City to show their support. Internal fundraisers within FCCU included Jeans Fridays and an FCCU clothing raffle. Out of the Darkness is an event put on by The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the leading national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy. This organization also reaches out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide. First Community Credit Union will begin fundraising this month for their fourth quarter charity, Childrens Miracle Network. During its 74 year history, First Community Credit Union has grown to be North Dakotas largest Credit Union with 125 employees and 14 branches whose field of membership covers approximately one third of the state. As a credit union, FCCU is owned by its members. This is different than other financial institutions which are owned by a select group of stockholders. The Credit Unions profits are returned to the members in the form of better services, accounts, and favorable rates on savings and loans.
