Credit Union Supports Adopt a Soldier Charity
October 10, 2013
JACKSON, Mich. - American 1 Credit Union is dedicated to the communities they serve and feels strongly about giving back. American 1 Credit Union raises money each month for different local charities. In September, American 1 set out to raise money for their Adopt a Solider charity. The money raised throughout the month will go towards purchasing Christmas gifts to send to a troop in Kandahar.
This month, American 1 challenged its branches to raise money by competing against another branch. We held a coin war, where our branches were pitted against one another, to see which could raise the most money for charity. In the spirit of the college football season starting we gave each branch two jugs to collect money, one for Michigan State University and the other for University of Michigan. This allowed our members to get involved; choose their favorite team and donate money for our monthly charity. Branches took it upon themselves to raise money by holding bake sales, selling candies, and simply asking our members for donations to support the troops.
In addition, we continued to make popcorn and offer bottled water at a few of our branches on Fridays.
A total of $2050.06 was raised for Adopt a Soldier. For more information on the organization or the ability to adopt your own soldier please visit http://www.adoptaussoldier.org
If members of the community would like to continue to support our endeavors and support our troops, they may stop in to any of our branches to make a donation. The account will continue to stay open until we send the soldiers gifts at the beginning of December.
