CaptureHeritage Federal Credit Union is partnering with Alcoa Warrick Operations and Keep Evansville Beautiful to promote the 2013 CANS for CA$H Challenge,a six-week recycling initiative with a goal of collecting several thousand pounds of aluminum beverage cans. The CANS for CA$H Challenge will last from now until Nov. 12. Those who enter the contest will receive payment for the cans they bring in to recycle, but they can also nominate a nonprofit organization or charity of their choice to receive cash prizes to be given away of $500, $300, and $200. According to a KEB news release, aluminum is the most recycled consumer packaging material on earth, but the U.S. is lagging behind other nations in recycling the material. Aluminum can be recycled an unlimited amount of times with a used can being back on the grocery store shelf in less than 60 days. Entry forms for the challenge are located at Material Recycling, Inc. at 2340 North Burkhardt Road, or Tri-State Resource Recovery at Read Street and Morgan Avenue.
