Credit Union Helps Food Bank with 12 Tons of Food

Second Harvest Heartland 0913Woodbury, MN While most people like to relax after a busy day at work, a group of ambitious and dedicated Postal Credit Union (PCU)�employees and family members headed to Second Harvest Heartland to help pack food for the regional food bank. The group surpassed previous records set by PCU volunteers, filling 700 boxes, over 12 tons of food, that will provide 20,417 meals to those in need. Volunteers also presented a check from the PCU Community Foundation for $500 to Second Harvest Heartland to help in its efforts to feed the hungry in our communities. Twice each year, PCU sends volunteers to Second Harvest Heartland to pack boxes for our hungry neighbors. "These volunteer nights are popular with employees as it provides an opportunity to spend time with coworkers from other branch offices, and give back to our communities in a very meaningful way," said PCU President Brian Sherrick. "The thought of anyone going hungry is hard to imagine. Through volunteer efforts and monetary donations, we can hopefully make a difference in the fight against hunger."
