Aberdeen, SD - Have you ever run a 5K? How about a 5K with 12 obstacles in it?
On Saturday, September 7th three staff members (Michelle Clemens, Heidi Zeller-Crawford, and Nicole Crawford) plus one credit union member from Healthcare Plus Federal Credit Union did just that along with 3,000 other people.
The Warrior Dash is the worlds largest obstacle race series, held on the most rugged terrain in more than 50 locations across the globe. The HCPFCU group ran theirs in Hugo, MN. They earned their Warrior helmet by tackling a fierce 5K course and 12 extreme obstacles, including jumping over fire, crawling through trenches under barb wire and swimming through muddy mayhem, just to name a few.
The money raised at this event is donated to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital where they are revolutionizing the way the world treats pediatric cancer. And, when the race is over, many participants donate their muddy shoes which are recycled and given to people who cannot afford shoes.
