Volunteer group photoFresno, CA September 5, 2013 About 110 volunteers from three Central California credit unions recently spent a day cleaning up and refurbishing a popular outdoor school near Yosemite National Park.

The volunteers from Educational Employees Credit Union (Fresno, CA), Merced School Employees Federal Credit Union and Merco Credit Union (Merced, CA) joined forces to spruce up Camp Green Meadows in Fish Camp near the parks southern entrance. The volunteer crew split and stacked wood, painted picnic tables, constructed a retaining wall, rebuilt an archery backstop, planted flowers and undertook other general maintenance. "Its great to see volunteers from three different credit unions coming together for the benefit of the community," said Jim Huff, EECU marketing director. "By working together we were able to accomplish so much more." Camp Green Meadows officials were grateful for the day of service. The projects accomplished by the collective 300 hours of work by the volunteers in one morning would have taken the camp maintenance staff a month to complete, Green Meadows Principal Bob Bassett said. About half of the volunteers were with EECU, which has 15 branches and serves more than 218,000 members in 10 Central California counties.
