EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Royal Credit Union Foundation (RCU Foundation) recently hosted the 28th annual Rock the Riverfront featuring the Charity Classic. Each year, the RCU Foundation  partners with local charities to raise funds and awareness about the important work these organizations do in local  communities. In 2022, the RCU Foundation partnered with three local veteran focused charities. All three benefitted, but votes determined first, second, and third place winners. Runners and walkers got a free vote with registration and additional votes were also purchased to help the charities.

The RCU Foundation recently presented each charity with a “big check”—below are a few highlights.

Chippewa Valley Veterans Tribute Foundation (CVVTG) earned 42% of the votes and were awarded $15,000. Chippewa Valley Veterans Tribute Foundation has members representing all the Chippewa Valley Veteran service organizations. By building a strong foundation to act as an umbrella organization for all Veteran services, CVVTF hopes to create future programs to aid in some of the most perilous obstacles facing Veterans.

Sofas for Service earned 39% of the votes and were awarded $7,500. Sofas for Service helps Veterans in Wisconsin and Minnesota furnish their homes with furniture, beds, kitchen wares, small appliances and other miscellaneous household items. There are an estimated 40,000 homeless Veterans in the country and 2,500 of them live in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Veterans Home at Chippewa Falls-Recreation Committee earned 19% of the votes and were awarded $5,000. Wisconsin Veterans Home at Chippewa Falls is one of the State of Wisconsin’s three Veterans skilled nursing facilities administered by the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs. Their nonprofit Recreation Committee organizes Veteran events and outings.

Join the RCU Foundation for the 29th anniversary of Rock the Riverfront, featuring the Charity Classic, on Saturday, June 24, 2023. For more information visit www.rcu.org/Race.
