August 19, 2022
We share a passion for our members and community: that’s our common thread.
LOWELL, MA – The Kristy Williams Memorial Foundation was selected as the winner of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s National Nonprofit Day campaign. The organization received a $2,022 donation as the winning prize. National Nonprofit Day was celebrated on Wednesday, August 17.
The campaign, which is part of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s Small Acts That Give Back initiative, ran from July 18 - August 5. Community members nominated their favorite local 501(c) (3) nonprofits for the chance to win a $2,022 donation. The Credit Union received 467 nominations for 259 various nonprofit organizations.
The Kristy Williams Memorial Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was created in honor of Kristy Williams, who passed away from brain cancer in October of 2021 at the age of 34. Kristy found her calling working as a registered nurse while inspiring others with her story and leaving a lasting impression on her patients. She adopted the phrase "shining with hope," as her motto while defying the odds and never allowing a cancer diagnosis to prevent her from enjoying life to the fullest. The Foundation’s goal is to provide hope and financial support to individuals battling brain tumors and other forms of cancer.
“Kristy was always giving back to the community. She was spreading kindness constantly, and that’s why we wanted to establish this organization,” said Jillian Dooley, friend of Kristy Williams. “We’ve started to receive responses from families and it is so rewarding to know that you are making an impact on someone else’s day, someone you may not even know. We are so appreciative to receive this donation.”
”We are honored to play a small part in supporting this strong family and their foundation as they continue to help the community in memory of Kristy,” said Mark S. Cochran, President & Chief Executive Officer.
