Advantage One Makes Donations to Two Local Charitable Organizations
August 16, 2022
Brownstown, MI—July 2022— In honor of their 70th anniversary, Advantage One Credit Union is excited to announce their Community Commitment Fund, which allows the credit union to help local charities on a larger scale.
While they typically take part in food drives, golf outings and other local events, employees and managers wanted to do even more. After working out the details and getting approval from their board of directors, CEO Chris Corkery was excited to share the big news with his staff.
The first grants were distributed in July and went to two organizations that more than deserved them.
Penrickton Center for Blind Children was the first organization to receive a grant from Advantage One. Penrickton is located in Taylor, and they specialize in working with legally blind children who have at least one additional handicap. They provide a residential program to families, as well as therapy programs and advocacy. Penrickton expressed a need for updated first aid/CPR equipment, along with some personnel training, so the credit union presented them with a check for $9000.00.
The second grant was awarded to the Downriver Foster Closet, in the amount of $5000.00. Through the power of social media, the credit union was notified of the foster closet’s need for assistance with their back-to-school event. This event is one of their largest of the year and provides backpacks, shoes and other basic school needs to over 200 children in foster care.
“Advantage One has always been active in the community; participating in events, sponsoring local sports teams and raising money for charities, but with our new community fund we can do even more. It was great to spend the afternoon visiting Penrickton and the Foster Closet. The passion and love for what they do did not go unnoticed and the tours of their facilities were appreciated. We look forward to doing more with them in the future.” says CEO Chris Corkery.
