August 9, 2022
DENHAM SPRINGS, LOUISIANA—Pelican State Credit Union hosted its 18th Annual Free Kids Bike Race on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Abundant Life Church in Denham Springs. Kids ages 12 and under were able to participate in this healthy, fun, and free event. The credit union is thankful to be able to go out and make memories with the community.
There was no shortage of competitive spirit as 114 kids pedaled as fast as they could around each lap. They were cheered on by Pelican team members, their families, and Pelican State Credit Union’s mascot, Petey the Pelican.
Pelican volunteers and Petey the Pelican kicked off the event with warm up stretches before the big race. Each racer was awarded a medal of achievement after completing their laps, and received a free kid’s combo and certificate from Raising Cane's. The credit union also gave away prizes donated by Livingston Parish businesses who sponsored this year's race.
In addition to the races and prizes, there were refreshments, balloon animals, music, coloring with Petey, and many other activities available for parents and kids to enjoy!
This event was made possible with the help and support of local Livingston Parish sponsors: Texas Roadhouse, Raising Cane’s, Wildcat Nutrition, Stine Home & Yard, Livingston Parish Library, Empower225, Epilepsy Alliance Louisiana, Denham Springs Antique Merchants Association, Cheeky Monkey’s BR, Plumbing M.D., Top Golf, All Star Lanes, Denham Springs Police Department, AT&T Denham Springs, Ochsner Health, and Abundant Life Church.
