Credit Union Donates $6,000 to Homeless Shelter

SOMERSET, Wis. Royal Credit Union presented a $6,000 donation to Grace Place-St. Croix County.� The presentation took place at the RCU Office in Somerset. Earlier this year, the organization was chosen to receive a portion of the funds raised at RCUs Charity Classic race. Grace Place provides safe, temporary housing for homeless individuals and families.
On June 29, 2013, 1184 men, women, and children participated in the 19th Annual RCU Charity Classic. Medals, collector plates, and gift certificates were awarded to the top finishers in each of the races. More than 200 children participated in the � and � mile races, each receiving a participation award. The Charity Classic has been held annually by RCU for the past 19 years, with the proceeds each year going to charities nominated by RCU team members. In total $18,000 was raised at the event, pre-race spaghetti feed and additional fundraising activities conducted by RCU team members. In addition to Grace Place, The Family Place in St. Paul and Sojourner House in Eau Claire also each received a $6,000 donation.
Next years RCU Charity Classic will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014, with races beginning in downtown Eau Claires Phoenix Park. Registration will be available online at www.rcu.org or at any RCU office.
